Mt. Pleasant Depression Counseling
You don’t have to face the weight of depression alone. Whether it’s loss of motivation, constant fatigue, or feeling disconnected, therapy can help you find clarity, hope, and balance again.
Depression and Medication, How do I decide?
Depression looks different for everyone. For some, it shows up as constant sadness or fatigue; for others, it can appear as irritability, loss of motivation, or feeling emotionally numb. It can affect sleep, relationships, work, and even the ability to find joy in things that once felt meaningful.
Therapy can be incredibly beneficial, even without medication, because of the brain’s natural ability to change and adapt—something known as neuroplasticity. Through therapy, individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, or relationship challenges can rewire thought patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and create new emotional responses over time. For some, combining medication with therapy can provide additional support and help the brain respond more effectively to change. Whether on its own or alongside medication, therapy empowers lasting healing by harnessing the brain’s remarkable capacity to grow and recover.
As your therapist, my goal is to support you in finding what works best for you. We’ll work together to explore how you’re feeling, what’s been helping, and where you’re still struggling. If at any point we think medication might be helpful, we can talk through that option and decide together if a consultation with a prescribing provider makes sense. The decision is always yours, and I’ll be here to guide and support you through whichever path you choose.
“You are not your thoughts; you are the awareness behind them.”
— Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power of Now
